I'm Taking Suggestions

What are you reading right now? No, not my blog. I mean, what's sitting on your nightstand?

I'm looking for a good read. Something that isn't j.ust02.3

That little type-o was Wyatt's contribution to this post. He's not happy that my attention is elsewhere.

What I meant was: something that isn't just okay. I'm looking for OH. SO. GOOD kinda good.

Anyhoo, give me some suggestions. It's been awhile since I've read a good book. Crazy. I know.

Oooh, I'm reading Whole Grains, by Betty Crocker. So good.

And the History of Words. By Webster.

Good stuff.

Oh wait. I've got a good to-do list that might take you a while to read. It'd be amusing, but not real juicy.

What do you like?
historical romance? - The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer
Sci-Fi? The Host by Stephanie Meyer
Fantasy? East by Edith Pattou
or The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
Youth Fantasy? Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Just some ideas...

I'm a sucker for anything by Nicolas Sparks (ie A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, The Guardian, etc) & Richard Paul Evans (ie the Christmas Box, The Perfect Day, etc.) I would strongly recommend them all, but espceially The Perfect Day.

Probably my favorite read of this year (besides Meyer's stuff, which I'm assuming you've already read) was These is My Words by Nancy Turner (regrettable title, excellent book).

Christopher Moore. Hilarious.

If you like non-fiction read Escape by Carolyn Jessop. It's about a woman who escaped Polygamy. I don't read and I read it in 2 days! Just interesting, yet a little depressing.

I really liked "These is My Words" too. "The Hunger Games" is great. If you like Austen take offs - "The Confessions of Fitzwilliam Darcy" or "Austenland."

I'm really enjoying reading "Brown Brown Bear, What Do You See?" by Eric Carle. The way he transitions from the white dog to the purple horse is phenomenal.

Not a huge Sparks fan.

I just got done reading Angela's Ashes...can't really recommend it...lots of sexual content and cursing...but a very telling story about poverty in Ireland during WWII.

If you have not read Papa Married A Mormon, by Fitzgerald it would be my #1 recommendation for life.....it's historical, it's uplifting, it's religious, it's about humanity....it's out of print and hard to find, but I lucked out with a copy from the library.

SO... as a busy college student, I stepped back and let the homework pile up last month after I purchased 3 books for my birthday. All 3 were enjoyed.

THe first I became hooked on after one of my guy friends let me borrow it while hangin at his house (him & the other guy friend were playin' video games and no one was payin' attention to anyone else). I read 50 pages before headin' off to a church activity & he wouldn't let me borrow it anymore. I finished it before him though. It's an adult romance so hard to recommend. BUt most of the sexual content or sort of all of it happens between a married couple. ANyway, It's called THe Time Traveler's Wife. & I LUVED IT! Despite the adult content. It's by Aubrey Niffennegger (or something... sorry my copy's on lone but I really think that's close!)

THe second was kinda a cop out. P.S. I Love You by ??(also on lone). It was a very enjoyable story though don't read it expecting it to be like the movie. You'll be disappointed. It's very different. But read it like a new story & you'll like it... almost as much as the movie anyway! ;-) lol

The thrid was very heart touching. The MEmory Keepers Daughter (same person has all three & unfortuneatly let me down by not reading any of them over fall break... another reason I don't like Twilight ;-) lol... why read it twice when you have three great new reads waiting for you???). Anyway, I've heard it has a lifetime movie made after it. Don't know but it's a very touching story about a Doctor & his family & especially his daughter who has down syndrome.

Hope you enjoy. Now I have to catch up on homework that should have been done long ago. Needless to say I did ZERO over fallbreak & instead played with my 3 adorable neices!

I'm currently reading "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch. I don't read it as on continuous read but more as a chapter a day read. It's one of those that you want to absorb the thoughts you just read. You most certainly could read it in a day easy but it's more like savoring a good meal. He just fairly recent passed away of pancreatic cancer.
