Tuesday was one of the best days for our families ever - - - Graduation!! And because Noah is a man who does not like to have attention brought to him, I won't tell you how proud of him I am.
I won't tell you how I couldn't keep myself from crying when I saw him march into Madison Square Garden in his graduation robes.
I won't tell you how I had a ginormous smile from ear to ear all day long.
I won't tell you how I watched him study for endless hours and still not let the stress of school walk through the door with him into our home.
I won't tell you how I know he has sacrificed so much to make sure that his family was well cared for and happy.
I won't tell you the number of hours he spent holding a sleeping baby while studying.
I won't tell you how he scored me a free gold tooth and three fillings from NYU.
I won't tell you how grateful I am to his parents for raising such a wonderful man.
I won't tell you that he is the smartest man that I know, and that he is the most enjoyable person to talk with.
I won't tell you that he inspires me to be a better person and mother.
I won't tell you that I love him so much, and that I love that we can check off another item on Life's To Do List.
And Just Like That (now I snap my fingers) - - - He is Dr. Shafer, and we are done with dental school, moving from NYC and on to the promising city of Albuquerque.
The change is so immediate.
Just last week I was still in the zone. I was still trying to kill time at the park with three busy little boys when Noah had a dawn to dusk day at school. I can't say that those days will be missed. They have made me tired, and I am ready to move on to new experiences and challenges in life.
But the nostalgic rememberer in me will always look back on these days with tenderness. Two of our babies were born here. Some of the best friendships we have were made here. We have been able to experience such uniqueness in the Big City. We have eaten some delicious food here (mmmmm........mmmmm.......fooooooodddddd), seen crazy street dancing, and every site that we could. Though difficult at times, our life has been very happy and very blessed.
To quote a song Noah and I like, "Two of us together, we can do anything - Baby."
And it's true.

What a sweet post! I love your family picture - You guys look fantastic!
wow. congratulations, guys! huge. HUGE accomplishment.
WOW.. you got me crying with pride too. I thought that the tears were just jealousy that LG didn't get a DR. title, but I think it's really just because I am so proud of you guys and happy for you. And relieved that those long days are over for all of you.
Congrats Katie. That was a long road, but you guys did it!! We're behind you, literally. Thanks for all the advice (or at least understanding viewpoint). You've been a great friend and teacher...(I don't know quite the word to use, but I've learned a lot from you).
Good luck in New Mexico. We'll miss you guys.
No one can be prouder then I am of the two of you! O.K. maybe Cathy and Shaf, but we share in being proud of two wonderful children who have worked their tails off for the last 8 years. Well done!
Awww, what a sweet post. You and your boys deserve all the success now and times ahead.
Tell that Noah guy...errr I mean Dr. Shafer, that he's a swell guy.
Haha that was me above, I sounded like an idiot so I'm trying again...
Katie-- you guys have been my light at the end of the tunnel. When we were just beginning and there was no light for us, I looked at you guys and saw your light at the end of your tunnel. (wow even rephrased that still sounds cheesy). Now you guys are done and I can see our own light! (Isn't it crazy that we are now where you guys were at when we first moved here? Crazy). I've loved your advice and your "hang in there" support you've given me. Good luck to the "good doctor". Way to go Dr. Shafer!
Oh and PS-- thanks for the apartment!
Congratulations! I know very well that it is no small feat getting a young family through school. You both deserve congrats and kudos for your hard work.
Good luck in New Mexico. Sorry we couldn't come visit you here. Maybe there.
Yay!! Congratulations!!
Congratulations you guys! That's amazing! And it needs to be said........you look beautiful! Now let's hit the grand canyon!
So happy for you! Seems like a million years ago when Noah was just deciding on dentistry.
I was so sorry to hear about the van too!
My aunt used to live in Albealkjfd, however that's spelled, and she found so much awesome roadrunner stuff, so while you're there, kiss a roadrunner for me. Best Wishes!
